Whooooo's With Me?

I have to admit that when the whole "owl' craze started I just didn't get it. I mean, some of the toys, tees, prints, etc were pretty cute. Anything with polka dots, stripes, or bright colours appeals to me but I didn't really get it. Then I saw this picture on Pinterest....

......LOVE.
I fell head over heels in love with this little guy getting his head scritched. HE LOOKS LIKE HE'S SMILING!!!
I am now a full supporter of the owl band wagon and proud of it!
There's even a video featuring this little guy...

Gah!!! Too much cute!!!

Thrifted Treasures #1

Okay I'll admit I am waaaaaaay late to the thrifting craze but now that I've started I just cannot get over the thrill of finding little treasures (and the prices don't hurt either!). I've even managed to get The Boy into it!

Now on to today's treasure.
The Boy looooves Monopoly and we have been looking around for a monopoly game that wasn't seriously overpriced. When did boardgames get so expensive? Everywhere we went Monopoly was $60!!!

Then one day we were walking by the huge thrift store by our house and we wandered in (looking for a large pot for him and books for me). We went back to the toy section and looked through all the games with no luck. It was then that The Boy pointed out a sign warning parents to keep an eye on their kids. It was worded rather rudely in english and in french and we were giggling about it when my eyes dropped to the shelf below......and there it was......

MONOPOLY!!!!

My jaw literally dropped and all I could do was point.

At this point The Boy ripped open the box, took everything out and began counting cards and checking pieces. The game was well loved but all the pieces were there except the dice and the little figures. And the best part?

It was $3.99!

Let me tell you we grabbed that game and booted it to the cash, the whole time thinking we were about to be Monopoly mugged by some other crazy boardgame obsessed person. Luckily we made it out alive! A quick trip to the dollar store for some dice and my donation of two mini nailpolishes as place markers and we were all set for our first game (I lost).

Our 'men'. I'm the pink...of course!

And there you have the story of a thrifted treasure!

P.S. We played again last night and I kicked butt!!!!

The Reset Button

I've deleted all of my former posts. To be honest I almost gave up the blog idea entirely but I realized that I just needed to take more control and add more ME to my little bloggy. I was trying too hard to be like other bloggers and it just wasn't working out. I need this place to be about me, my life, my thoughts, my adventures.

With that being said my life hasn't been super interesting lately. I am still jobless (although I may have an interview soon...please,please, please!), many of my friends have disappeared and I am FLAT BROKE. Ugh. I know this sounds like a pity party but it's really not, I do enjoy my life quite a bit it would just be easier if I had a full-time job. I miss daily intereaction with people, I even miss office politics (but just a wee bit).

Anyhoo I have made a promise to myself to be the real me on this blog from now on. No more copying ideas that aren't really my 'thing' (outfit posts I'm looking at YOU) and more about the things I love in life.

Give me a little time and I am positive I can make this blog my own very special place.

Ciao for now!
